On Saturday 31st July, Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire Ramblers invite you to join them to retrace the footsteps of walkers of old, and celebrate the 75th anniversary of Britain’s walking charity.
This year, special Ramblers 75th birthday batons have been making a historic journey around Britain as walkers carry a baton from region to region, celebrating the Ramblers work to make Britain one of the most walking friendly countries in the world.

This July Ramblers from across Yorkshire and the Humber are inviting you to get out and take up the baton to help the Ramblers celebrate 75 years as Britain’s walking charity. Special Ramblers 75th birthday batons will be making a historic journey around Britain as walkers carry the baton from region to region, celebrating the Ramblers work to make Britain one of the most walking friendly countries in the world.

The Ramblers will be launching their 75th birthday celebrations in Cardiff on March 13th, kicking off a month of Welsh ‘baton walks’.
This year, Britain’s walking charity is 75 years old. To mark the occasion, a special Ramblers birthday baton is travelling around Britain throughout 2010. In March it will reach Wales, where it will travel around the country before being passed on to the England’s North West region.

This May the Ramblers are joining forces with British Waterways to invite you to carry their special 75th anniversary baton on an historic relay from Reading to Bristol along the entire length of the 200-year-old Kennet & Avon Canal.
Balloons, Batons a bit of Booze: Cornwall to launch 75th Baton Walks!

West Cornwall’s (in)famous annual ‘Trencrom Tipsy Toddle’ has been chosen to launch the national 75th Anniversary year celebrations of Britain’s walking charity, the Ramblers.
Hoards of Ho-Ho-Ho-ing walkers will be toasting in the Ramblers Anniversary year, as they set off on the ‘Tipsy Toddle’ to Trencrom on 31st December 2009. The walk will launch the Ramblers nationwide programme of Anniversary ‘Baton Walks’, which will see local Ramblers groups ‘walk’ a baton around England, Scotland and Wales throughout 2010. Starting off from Trencrom, the baton will pass around the South West in January, before being handed over to the West Midlands region in February.

The Ramblers is asking its volunteers and supporters to get out and take up the Baton, to help them celebrate 75 years as Britain’s walking charity.
For three quarters of a century, since its 1935 inauguration, the Ramblers has helped coax, campaign, and path-by-path build Britain into one of the most walk-friendly country’s in the world. To celebrate, the Ramblers are holding a nationwide Baton walks programme, where a special Ramblers birthday baton will travel around Britain throughout 2010.
